female brains more R-L interconnected

source: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2013/12/male-and-female-brains-really-are-built-differently/281962/

Researchers: University of Pennsylvania (including Radiology)
N = 949 subjects aged 8-22
Method: MRI
Results: male brains have more connections WITHIN each hemisphere, while female brains are more interconnected BETWEEN hemispheres (L = "logical" and R = "creative")
Upper: Male, Lower: Female

Implication:
> "... men tend to see issues and resolve them directly, due to the strong connections between the 'perception' and 'action' areas of their brains
> while females might be more inclined to combine LOGIC and INTUITION when solving a problem."

> (past research) across cultures, female brains are more functionally interconnected when at REST vs men's, on average

NB: the differences were less prominent in young children, but became prominent in adolescents.

ETC: one reason why autism rates are higher among males, could be because a form of the gene NRXN3 is produced at higher levels in male brains.
